What to Expect?
Gentle thumb and finger techniques apply pressure to sensory areas or reflex points of the foot, hands, and ears. By including the meridians from the traditional Chinese medicine, it clears imbalances and “kinks” in vital energy channels restoring balance on both the physical and energetic level.

First 13 weeks
You can often see the baby in the reflex are on the foot after 6 weeks, as a change in skin colour. In this time, usually dramatic hormonal changes can be overwhelming and make you feel fatigued, lethargic, nauseous and cause morning sickness, or breast sensitivity.
Relaxing techniques are applied to make you feel supported, nurtured and help you unwind and re-energize, promote a state of harmony and well-being.
From 14 weeks – Due date
After 12 weeks, a little bump appears that grows, if your baby does. Causing imbalances in your physiological functions and more changes in your emotional wellbeing. Pregnancy symptoms such as; obstipation, gastric acid, headaches, migraines, sleep problems or lower pains and legs cramps or oedema could surface.
Specialized sessions are created to aid you to reduce, relieve and manage your symptoms, stress and tension.
If the little bubba decides to take a longer stay, reflexology can assist with the preparation of the body for a natural birth by stimulation of all those ‘forbidden points’ to hint the baby and body it is time for labour, and perhaps avoid medication.
This is a process that can get started at 38 weeks and, may or may not, be a ‘one push’ option.
Post Natal (6-8 weeks after giving birth)
After the delivery, you may experience confusing and contradictory emotions. Not surprising as your body, mind, and spirit undergo serious change and run into many new challenges.
The balancing, harmonizing and restorative action of reflexology works very healing during this time. Even if your body had a smooth birth, it will appreciate regaining balance quickly.

It is a very calming and relaxing treatment that works holistically. At MarisSage Remedial Therapies we marry reflex points with meridian points, or apply the metamorphose technique in some cases.
We adapt the pressure and the length of each session may vary or ask you to sit or lie down in a particular position depending on the stage of pregnancy. There is room if you wish to share your story. Baby can come along too and have a snooze on your tummy or you may like to find a babysitter.
